Deadlines, ID requirements, and the official state registration link — all in one place.
Wrong state?
New York has closed primaries — you must be enrolled in a political party to vote in that party's primary election. To change your party enrollment before the June 23, 2026 primary, you needed to submit your change by February 14, 2026. That deadline has already passed.
If you change your enrollment now, the change will not take effect until June 30, 2026 — one week after the primary.
Exception: If you have never registered before, you can still enroll in a party and vote in the June 23 primary — as long as your registration is received by June 13, 2026.

Most states require registration days or weeks before Election Day. Same-day registration is available in many states.
You'll need a state ID or driver's license number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
Use the official state link above. Online registration takes about five minutes and you'll receive confirmation.
From local school board elections to national races, your registration is the first step to making it count. We built this site to make sure the process is never confusing, never misleading, and never harder than it needs to be.
